Picture Research

When Pictures Talk
What's this picture where's the clue
I need to learn everything about you
Look at her dress and shoes on the floor
Who is that guy standing next to the door
Is that a house number above your head
Can this picture be taken after your dead
He has a military uniform; she's in a cap and gown
This photo is of my grandma's hometown
Are these kids cousins or are they friends
Is this the crew member who told of Ted's end
Your family's story in a picture may be told
Take care of them, their worth may be gold

Dedication: My cousin gave me a box of pictures and this was in it. No names, dates, nothing written on the back. But I have learned there are clues in each picture.

Why this picture: Remember that each picture is full of information we can discover. Keep your pictures and learn about them. This picture had no writing on the back, but I can still discover information about it. Here are two things I know about this photo even without written or oral information.
1- I know this girl is Elsie Wedemeyer because I have dozens of pictures of her. Some with her name on the back and some without.
2- I know this picture was taken during WWII which is the early 1940s. The clue is in the clothing.
The boy has on a garrison cap with a pin of double bars. Something WWII soldiers wore.
Elise is wearing an American Red Cross uniform. The red cross pin on her hat and ARC pin on her shirt were clues. A google of Red Cross WWII uniforms pulled up pictures of her same uniform.
Don't give up on your pictures. They have information. You just have to LOOK!
